Hi everyone, here's an update on the network. As the amount of on-chain activities keep increasing exponentially on Taraxa, we've run into a few issues recently. These issues are primarily driven by the rapid & constant increase in new wallet addresses, which is rapidly bloating the the nodes' statedb size. Here's a recap of the issues we've faced and what we're doing to fix things. 1. Our indexer which provides easy-to-access on-chain data for a variety of ecosystem projects, was having trouble catching up. We have dedicated a ton more resources to the indexer and now it has caught up. The indexer being not 100% fully in sync with the network can lead to issues whereby stakers (including programmatic stakers such as LARA) cannot make accurate decisions, and sometimes stake is delegated into nodes that are down. Since the indexer was back up as of last weekend, we expect the staking-to-dead node problem to also resolve soon. 2. Because the indexer wasn't caught up, and staking decisions weren't optimal, this likely lead to significant amount of "dead stake", which means the network can sometimes get stuck and unable to progress PBFT rounds since a lot of the eligible voting validators in the randomized committees end up being dead nodes that cannot vote. As the indexer issue resolves itself, we believe this problem should be greatly ameliorated. 3. As a result of the hugely bloated statedb, pruning on lite nodes have been hugely inefficient. This lead to problems where pruning was being abandoned in favor of simply syncing from snapshots, but now we're at a situation where snapshots simply take far too long to complete even with powerful machines. This means lite node operators will need to allocate more storage resources. This also means that likely there are more outages for lite node validators, resulting from cloud providers shutting off the node due to running out of disk, or pruning nodes taking far too long to prune leading to extended downtimes. So here's what we're doing going forward. The root cause for all these problems is the rapidly bloating statedb driven by the growth of on-chain activities. We are working on a way to greatly increase the efficiency of lite node pruning (addressing #3) as well as making the indexer more efficient (addressing #1 and #2). We're exploring a few options right now. Dealing with growth isn't easy but at least it's a good problem to have. Thank you!

It was a $44 Million Reload Fund", air dropped randomly to people who lost money on memes on BNB Chain a few days ago. Then someone added $1 million more, and "screwed it up". 🤣 Protect users. @BNBChain

Russian brokers are preparing for private exchanges involving frozen assets, RBC reports. The process could see a new phase of swapping blocked assets in Russia. Lists for exchange are expected to be compiled in November without portfolio value limits. The transactions are projected to be lengthy, with completion anticipated next year, amid concerns from experts about possible market pressure.
